Product Management

Product Management is the department that leads cross-functional teams to take an idea from concept development to launch, address product issues, enhance the functionality over time, and establish a vision for the product. The team accomplishes this by coordinating with multiple groups of stakeholders and departments to define the requirements and goals of a particular initiative.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Own products and projects – This gives you the ability to influence business decisions, translate tech into customer interests, and determine the scale of a product or system
  • Collaborate across various departments at Alarm.com. You can work with our Quality Engineering, Device Engineering, Software Engineering, and more teams, allowing you to broaden your knowledge base and work with a little bit of everything!
  • Taking products to market! Work with our Sales, marketing and training team organizations to properly position our products
  • Showcase your creative, self-starter skills and make an immediate impact on the exciting and rapidly evolving Internet of Things space
  • Work with innovative and emerging technologies – In order to know a product or system inside and out, you have to work and play with it! You get to test products for personal use before they get to the customer
  • Becoming the product expert and liaison for your area of expertise
  • Driving the product development life cycle – Writing product specifications, testing new features, managing beta programs, creating documentation and supporting existing products
  • Planning the go-to-market strategy for new products – Collaborating with engineering, sales, supply chain and other teams, educating stakeholders, and delivering product presentations
  • Conducting market research – Gathering feedback from customers and analyzing the market landscape
  • Ensuring that revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met for your projects
  • Working with engineering, support, sales and high profile partners to resolve product issues
  • Championing enhancements to existing products

Have what it takes?

  • Minimum B.S. or B.A. from a competitive school with strong academic performance
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for consumer technology and interest in developing a deep understanding of complex products and technologies
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • General knowledge of business, economics and/or finance
